SARAH BAXTER

Introduction

Sarah is a freelance theatre and opera director whose work is across all genres and centred on collaboration. Recent productions include the Irish Times Theatre Awards nominated These Stupid Things by Hugh Travers and The Roaring Banshees by John Morton and Peter McGann. For Irish National Opera, she directed Close by Hannah Peel and Stella Feehily.

Her work as director/co-creator includes: (with Alice Malseed) it’s getting harder and harder for me and Jellyfish, and (with Niamh Shaw) Diary of a Martian Beekeeper. Further director credits include: Personal Space Vol II, Dubliners Women, Taboo, The Hellfire Squad, Vehicle and To Space. Sarah's work has toured throughout Ireland, UK and internationally. Sarah was a member of Irish National Opera's ABL Aviation Studio 2018-2020 and co wrote and directed The Deadly World of Opera. She was an associate director for The Abbey Theatre and has worked as an assistant director extensively in theatre and opera. She is the 2020/2021 recipient of Druid Theatre's Marie Mullen bursary. Sarah trained in devised and physical theatre at London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA). Sarah also works as a script reader and dramaturg, with a focus on new writing. She is a member of the artist collective White Label.
